St. Anthony Main Engagement Photos in Downtown Minneapolis

Emily and Eamonn’s session at Gold Medal Park and St. Anthony Main was the perfect blend of cozy and electric, kinda like them. They’re high school sweethearts turned creative soulmates, recently engaged and planning a dreamy wedding in Breckenridge next year. Both of them live and breathe creativity—Eamonn’s in graphic design, Emily’s in marketing, and let’s just say… they get the assignment when it comes to aesthetics. Emily found me on Instagram and told me, “You ARE the vision,” which—brb, crying. But seriously, this shoot meant a lot. Emily did photography in college, so there was intention behind every part of it. It wasn’t just about ‘engagement pictures,’ but about capturing that unspoken energy between two people who’ve grown up together and still look at each other like that.

Why Downtown Minneapolis Engagement Photos?

Emily and Eamonn had just moved to Minneapolis and wanted their downtown engagement photos to feel like a little love letter to their new city. We hit St. Anthony Main and Gold Medal Park for that iconic mix of skyline views, cobblestone charm, and riverfront magic. It was one of those smoky, hazy days thanks to the Canadian wildfires (classic Midwest summer vibes), but honestly? It ended up adding this dreamy, golden-hour-meets-indie-film kind of glow. We’d already rescheduled once, and instead of waiting for the “perfect” forecast, we just said screw it and went for it—and I’m so glad we did. The light was soft, the city felt calm, and the whole session felt nostalgic. Sometimes, the not-so-ideal conditions make for the most unexpectedly beautiful photos.

Making Memories at Gold Medal Park and St. Anthony Main

From the jump, Emily and Eamonn told me they were total goofballs—and they did not disappoint. Their energy is playful! It made photographing them feel like hanging out with two best friends who just happen to be obsessed with each other. We started with a chill, casual vibe, romping through the park and downtown streets. Later, they switched things up with more polished, romantic looks by the river. That shift brought such a cool contrast, and it gave me space to lean into both the editorial, glowy moments and the candid, unfiltered ones. Their gallery ended up feeling like a little scrapbook of everything they are—real, soft, silly, in love.

Next up: Breckenridge, baby. Emily and Eamonn are heading to the mountains for their wedding next year! If their downtown engagement session was any preview, we’re in for one hell of a day with Colorado views.

Also, if you’re recently engaged, just moved to the city, or simply want to freeze this chapter in time, hey, I’m Maddi! Let’s create something real, full of energy, and unapologetically you.
