Megan and Logan eagerly anticipated their wedding day with genuine excitement. Despite their efforts to remain composed, their joy was unmistakable. The fortunate occurrence of a 50-degree day in November, uncommon in Minnesota, set the stage for their day. When they communicated their preferences, they envisioned a classy, black-and-white formal ceremony with a touch of moodiness. The Depot at Renaissance Hotel in Minneapolis played a crucial role in making their vision a reality, especially in capturing the vibes of their documentary-style wedding photos.
Megan and Logan discovered my work on Instagram while drawn to my documentary style. Our connection was immediate, and a genuine friendship developed. This bond has extended beyond capturing their special moments, as I am honored to be photographing Megan’s best friend’s wedding in 2024.
Megan’s desire for a “natural” first look led to a thoughtful arrangement: she stood outside the area where the girls prepared while Logan came from the hotel room upstairs where the guys were getting ready. This decision resulted in a truly authentic moment for the couple. Following the first look, we began couples’ photos, using the exterior of a nearby government building for city-esque backgrounds. Afterward, we gathered family and wedding parties for group shots. Considering the early November sunset at around 4 pm, we prioritized “sunset” photos before the ceremony. Upon Megan’s request, we walked two blocks to the Stone Arch bridge on the Mississippi, capturing absolutely beautiful sunset photos.
After capturing cherished moments downtown, we headed for the ceremony. Having met over seven years ago, their vows were among the sweetest I’ve heard. After the ceremony, the celebration began, marking the start of a joyful union.
“Thank you, thank you for sending the photos over last night. We sat and looked through them all, and we were so obsessed. You are so good at what you do, so thank you for everything throughout the whole process. You are a gem!!”
