Fall Engagement Photos on the North Shore in Minnesota

Recently, I had the chance to run along the Minnesota North Shore with this adorable couple for their early fall engagement photo session. We captured some stunning shots at Palisade Head during sunrise – heart eyes. Stay tuned for more highlights from their engagement session—I am eagerly anticipating their wedding day!

MADISON AND LOGAN’S ENGAGEMENT SESSION ON THE NORTH SHORE IN MINNESOTA

Madison and Logan journeyed from North Dakota for their sunrise engagement session on Minnesota’s North Shore. They aimed to capture the beauty of the fall season. Despite the delayed foliage change, we saw a breathtaking sunrise over Lake Superior. Remarkably, Madison and Logan’s engagement had taken place at Palisade Head the previous winter, making it their ideal location for engagement photos. Despite the windy characteristics of a Gitchi Gummi day, we still captured some fantastic shots.

Palisade Head, situated just beyond Silver Bay along Highway 61, features a relatively inconspicuous lower parking lot marked by a small sign, requiring some attention to locate. The drive to the upper lot is steep, but the breathtaking views from the massive cliffs more than compensate for the effort.

Similarly, Black Beach is tucked away in Silver Bay, concealed behind the campground on the town’s northern side. There are two different routes leading down to Black Beach. You’ll recognize your arrival when you spot a small lot and a restroom facility. A brief trail leads to the beach, where you’ll discover the distinct dark-colored sand, a result of the nearby iron ore plant.
