An in-home photography session can offer a unique and intimate way to capture genuine moments between couples. Unlike outdoor or studio sessions, in-home sessions provide a comfortable and familiar environment for natural interactions and emotions. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Madalyn and Parker in their Minnesota home. She found me on Instagram, and we instantly connected due to our similar personalities. Our session was all about having fun and capturing a free-spirited vibe, making it a really enjoyable experience.
Madalyn and Parker recently moved from Nebraska to St. Paul and into a charming new house. They wanted to celebrate this milestone with their 10-year-old golden retriever, Meadow. Our session began with a discussion about their vision, focusing on capturing the warmth of their home and the joy of their new chapter. We prepared the space by considering lighting, decluttering (which wasn’t difficult since they’d just moved in), and adding personal touches to enhance the ambiance. They have a ton of windows and natural light flooding in on the warm wood tones so it was so simple to create a cozy feel.
On the day of the shoot, we captured candid moments of the couple interacting naturally, with Meadow joyfully joining in. We also ventured to Como Park, a beautiful, expansive park in St. Paul. Despite the park being packed on the first hot day of the season, Meadow’s excitement was contagious as she ran around, making it clear she thought it was the best day ever.
For couples considering an in-home session, choose a photographer who understands your vision and makes you feel comfortable. Prepare your home by focusing on good lighting, decluttering, and incorporating personal touches that reflect your style.
