A Colorful Spring Wedding at a Colorado Wedding Venue

Sara and Daniel’s journey towards their wedding day at The St Vrain, an industrial Colorado wedding venue in Boulder County, began with a shared appreciation for my documentary photography style. They were drawn to my ability to capture candid moments but wanted guidance for their couples’ portraits. When they expressed concerns about handling low-light situations, I reassured them with my background as a concert photographer. Luckily, I’m accustomed to diverse lighting challenges. The St Vrain, an old warehouse in downtown Longmont, just 45 minutes north of the Denver metro, has such a cool backdrop. The upstairs is decked out with exposed brick and large windows, and a more refined downstairs features white paint.

A Colorado Wedding Day Surprise

In Colorado during spring, the weather can be quite unpredictable, as we anticipated. When I met Sara and Daniel in Boulder for their engagement session, we joked about the possibility of snow in April, the month of their wedding. Little did we know, our banter seemed to summon it. Heavy, wet snowflakes fell from the sky the night before their big day. Coming from Minnesota, I’m no stranger to snowy weather, but waking up to nearly 6 inches of snow after seeing none the day before was unforgettable. Despite a forecast in the low 50s, most of the snow melted before our outdoor photo session. The forecast predicted more snow later in the day, but fortunately, it held off long enough for us to capture some beautiful outdoor shots of Sara and Daniel.

Personalized Details and Colorful Decor at Their Colorado Wedding Venue

Sara and Daniel decorated their ceremony setup with some of their favorite colors—orange, purple, and pink—perfect for the springtime vibe. It was evident how much thought they put into every detail, from the vibrant floral arrangements to the personalized touches like incorporating their rescue dogs into the decor. The reception continued the theme with a beautifully decorated venue. They created a seating chart resembling a bookshelf, using pages from their favorite books to identify each table, reflecting their shared passion for reading.

Their larger wedding party was a testament to their deep bonds with their friends. You could tell how much they loved the couple. Being part of their wedding day was an honor. I felt so gifted to be flown out to capture their love story in such a beautiful state.
