I met Josie and Ben through Instagram, and they reached out about doing some Colorado Springs couples photography at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It worked out perfectly since I was already in Colorado for a wedding. While working with them, I discovered that Josie and Ben are both originally from Minnesota, where I live. Before your shoot, take some time to research the park or chat with your photographer about the best locations that suit your style and personality as a couple. Do you envision yourself frolicking in a wildflower-filled meadow or gazing over the mountains? The possibilities are endless!

Coordinating Your Outfits

When it comes to your outfits, communication is key! Work with your partner to choose colors and patterns that complement each other and the natural surroundings. My best advice is to keep it neutral and have the other wear solids if you wear a pattern. Steer clear of busy patterns or neon hues that might distract from the beauty of the landscape. Instead, opt for classic, timeless pieces!

Relax and Have Fun!

Remember, the most important thing is to relax and enjoy the experience with your partner. Trust your photographer to capture genuine, documentary-style moments, and try not to focus on them too much. That way, you can be in the moment!

Before your shoot, check with the park for any permit requirements or restrictions regarding photography sessions, especially in state parks. In this case, you’re not required to have a permit at Cheyenne Mountain if your group is five people or less.
